Education Personnel are delighted to be recruiting for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant on behalf of one of our specialist education partners. This opportunity is based within a supportive, rural school setting where children and young people with complex needs are encouraged to thrive through consistency, creativity, and meaningful, personalised support.

This school is well known for its calm environment and its commitment to helping pupils develop emotional resilience, social understanding, and independence. Nestled in a peaceful location surrounded by nature, the school makes excellent use of its outdoor space—woodland areas, sensory gardens, and quiet outdoor zones provide pupils with opportunities to reconnect, regulate, and learn in ways that feel safe and grounded.

Inside the classroom, pupils benefit from small class sizes, structured routines, and highly trained staff who take time to build trusting relationships. Learning spaces are adapted to support autistic pupils and those with social, emotional, or communication differences. Breakout rooms, sensory-friendly areas, and therapeutic spaces help pupils engage positively and stay emotionally supported throughout the day.

What sets this school apart is its emphasis on hands-on learning, outdoor experiences, and a whole-child approach. Students are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and build real-life skills that will support them beyond the classroom. Staff work closely as a cohesive team to ensure every pupil receives the understanding and tailored provision they need.

Your contribution: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play an important role in helping pupils access their learning and develop confidence in their own abilities. You will support personalised programmes, build positive relationships with pupils, and work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to deliver the right support for each child. Your patience, adaptability, and understanding will make a genuine difference every day.

Desirables and Expectations:

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN in a primary, specialist, or alternative setting (desirable)
  • Confidence working 1:1 or with small groups to deliver targeted interventions
  • Understanding of approaches for supporting autism, communication differences, sensory needs, and social-emotional development
  • Strong communication skills for building effective relationships with colleagues, families, and external agencies
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic manner
  • Ability to adapt activities, resources, and routines to meet varied learning needs
  • Commitment to promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing, and inclusion
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to a school community that values outdoor learning and therapeutic approaches
