Purpose of the Job
To ensure outstanding customer service across the organisation by delivering expert HR advice and guidance in a timely and effective manner, whilst maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity. The post holder will act as a trusted adviser to school leaders, offering proactive and solution-focused advice on complex employee relations matters, workforce planning, performance management, and organisational change. By building strong professional relationships, the HR Adviser will contribute to creating positive working environments that support staff well-being, effective leadership, and the delivery of high-quality education.
Main Responsibilities/Duties of the Job
- To act as the first point of contact to provide advice and solutions to managers on employee relations matters, including working arrangements, contractual matters, sickness, employee communication and consultation, either via phone or e-mail, in line with current legislation.
- Respond to a wide range of customer enquiries, via telephone, e-mail or other correspondence, relating to HR issues/administration in a professional manner, to ensure that clients receive timely, accurate and valuable advice.
- Liaising with the school's other allocated contacts at EPM, to ensure a seamless HR, Payroll & Pensions service.
- To draft template letters in relation to any informal/formal meetings relating to ER cases, attending meetings/hearings as deemed necessary.
- Work in conjunction with colleagues in the HR advisory team to ensure a smooth and consistent service is provided.
- Deliver a range of HR activities within identified areas of work and support the work of HR Partners and Lead HR Partners.
- Actively contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the HR Advisory team, undertaking specific projects to embed consistency and best practice.
- Keep professionally up to date with human resource management trends and initiatives locally and nationally, identifying how they may impact on local service requirements and delivery or be utilised to improve efficiency.
- To maintain HR information management systems and confidently analyse reports, identifying key points.
- Offer accurate interpretation, advice, application and representation to clients on employment legislation, best practice and policies and procedures in relation to and in the context of clients' policies and procedures on a range of HR matters.
