We are working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Devizes who are looking to appoint a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant / LSA to support a pupil with Autism (ASD) and some associated challenging behaviour. This is a rewarding role in a supportive school that takes inclusion seriously. The child requires consistency, patience and someone confident in setting clear boundaries while building a positive, trusting relationship.
You will be working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider support staff to help the pupil access learning, manage emotions and feel secure within the school environment.
The role will involve:
- Providing 1:1 support within the classroom
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour management
- Adapting learning tasks to meet individual needs
- Implementing strategies from EHCP targets
- Liaising with staff and parents where appropriate
The school is looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with ASD
- Is confident managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
- Has knowledge or experience of ABA, PECS and/or Makaton (highly desirable)
- Is patient, resilient and proactive
- Can build strong, positive relationships
- Works well as part of a team
Team Teach or similar behaviour management training would be beneficial but isn't essential. The school has a supportive SEN team in place and values staff who are committed and reliable. This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about making a genuine difference in a child's school experience.
If you would like more information or to be considered, please send your CV and we will be in touch to discuss next steps.
