We are currently recruiting for a Year 1 Teaching Assistant (KS1 TA) to join a friendly and supportive primary school in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. This is an excellent opportunity for a Primary Teaching Assistant with experience in Key Stage 1, phonics, and early literacy support to secure a long-term role within a welcoming school environment.
This KS1 Teaching Assistant position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young learners and helping pupils build strong foundations in reading, writing, and numeracy.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the class teacher in delivering the Year 1 / KS1 curriculum
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, including pupils with additional or SEN needs
- Assist with phonics interventions (Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds, or similar)
- Help develop pupils' early literacy and numeracy skills
- Promote a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support behaviour management and pupil engagement
- Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Primary TA
- Knowledge of KS1 / Year 1 curriculum and phonics programmes
- A proactive, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A relevant qualification (Level 2/3 TA or equivalent) is desirable
