The Heights Blackburn seek to appoint a Science Teacher to join the school from September 2026.

To successfully plan and teach a well-structured Science curriculum for pupils at KS3 and KS4. To demonstrate secure subject knowledge and a clear understanding of current developments in the teaching of Science. To monitor and effectively support the overall progress and development of pupils, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs. To effectively assess through excellent formative and summative strategies so that all pupils are successfully acquiring and retaining the most important knowledge and skills. To facilitate and encourage engaging learning experiences which provide pupils with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential in Science. To contribute to raising standards of pupil attainment in Science. To make a positive contribution to the success of the department and ensure the Science department is a high-profile department in school.

Job Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Qualified to at least degree level in a Science based subject or adequate post-degree conversion course.
  • Experience of teaching Science throughout the Key Stages and securing good outcomes.
  • Ability to deliver consistently high-quality lessons in Science to pupils of all ages and abilities.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the Science Curriculum.
  • Knowledge of current educational developments and initiatives relating to the subject and their implications.
  • Well-developed planning and organisational skills including time management and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • A relentless approach to securing the improvement of teaching and learning.
