Position Lead Teacher of Mathematics – join Pleckgate High School in September.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to raising standards of pupil attainment and achievement in mathematics.
- Enable staff to use well‑judged and imaginative teaching strategies to provide support and intervention to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Secure promotion of high levels of enthusiasm for learning among pupils.
- Plan and deliver whole‑school and mathematics‑specific professional development.
- Lead the development and implementation of a whole‑school numeracy strategy with Heads of Department.
- Analyse data to identify trends, track progress and set targets for numeracy improvement.
- Oversee numeracy interventions programme, coordinating with learning support and pastoral teams.
- Research best practice in mathematical education and share knowledge with staff.
- Provide effective mentoring and coaching to teachers, including the use of the Steplab instructional coaching programme.
- Support wider engagement in mathematics through organisation and delivery of extracurricular enrichment opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree with evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Evidence of outstanding results for GCSE mathematics groups at foundation and higher level, and preferably for other mathematics qualifications.
- Demonstrated outstanding teaching practice and excellent behaviour management.
- Strong knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies for mathematics.
- Keen interest in subject‑specific pedagogy, reading and research, evidenced in teaching practice.
- Commitment to extracurricular and enrichment provision.
- Experience observing lessons, coaching and mentoring colleagues, with demonstrable impact.
- Experience of improvement planning and implementing strategies to raise pupil achievement, with evidence of success.
