Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located. Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND.

The College has two main campuses in Ashington and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region. Served by easy road links, and the new train station in Ashington, when Northumberland College opens its new Department for Education backed campus at Wansbeck Business Park, the college will boast a national trailblazer both in architectural design and operation. This major £52 million+ investment comes on top of the College recently driving £14 million into new facilities and resources at its existing sites.

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic plumbing professional who is passionate about developing the next generation of tradespeople. You will be a confident practitioner and an inspiring teacher (or aspiring teacher), committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences and supporting learners to achieve their full potential. As a proactive and adaptable individual, you will bring a positive, solutions-focused approach and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, helping to shape a curriculum that reflects current industry practice and employer expectations.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Education Partnership North East as a part-time Lecturer in Plumbing. You will deliver high-quality teaching and learning across a range of plumbing programmes, supporting learners from entry level through to advanced study. Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will play an important role in ensuring that learners develop the technical skills, knowledge and behaviours required to progress into employment or further study.

Role Responsibilities

  • Delivering high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Plumbing
  • Planning and developing engaging lessons that meet the needs of all learners
  • Supporting learner progress, achievement and positive destinations
  • Embedding English, maths and employability skills within vocational delivery
  • Maintaining safe, professional and industry-standard workshop environments
  • Contributing to quality improvement, curriculum development and team activities

Qualifications

  • Teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE/Cert Ed) or willingness to work towards
  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above

You will demonstrate:

  • Relevant industry experience within Plumbing
  • Experience of teaching or training (or a strong willingness to develop teaching skills)
  • Knowledge of current industry practices and standards
  • Ability to motivate, engage and support a diverse range of learners
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and learner wellbeing
