About the College

Northumberland College is Ofsted Outstanding and is currently building a multi-million, state of the art, new college campus in Ashington, due to open in 2026. The successful candidate will be based at the new college where a purpose-built construction, housing, advanced manufacturing and engineering centre will be located. Curriculum spans technical, vocational further and higher education and includes large apprenticeship provision and dedicated centres for young people with SEND. The College has two main campuses in Ashington and Ponteland, and as part of the college group Education Partnership Northeast, it also has a significant number of satellite delivery centres across the region.

Taking Teaching Further & Additional Incentives

If you’re making the move into further education teaching, you may be eligible for the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme, a funded route to help industry professionals retrain as FE teachers. In addition, for roles in high-need subjects or regions you may also benefit from the government’s targeted retention incentive payments, worth up to £6,000 for eligible teachers in their first five years and teaching certain shortage subjects.

About the Role

We are seeking a committed Learning Practitioner to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment within Health and Care. You will play a key role in creating engaging, career-focused learning experiences that support student progress, achievement and progression. Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders, you will contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes excellent outcomes and prepares students for their next steps.

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Assess student work and provide timely, constructive feedback to support progress.
  • Support the development of digital learning resources and innovative teaching approaches.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to a positive student experience, including induction, student voice and pastoral support.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health & safety and college policies at all times.

Qualifications

  • Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (or willingness to achieve within two years).
  • Minimum Level 4 qualification in a relevant subject area.
  • Level 2 English and Maths.
  • Experience of planning and delivering inclusive, engaging learning sessions.
  • Ability to assess fairly and provide effective feedback to support student achievement.
  • Experience supporting student progress, development and behaviour.
  • Ability to create inclusive learning environments that meet diverse learner needs.
  • Effective use of digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and continuous professional development.
  • Experience contributing to quality assurance and improvement processes.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders such as employers or community partners.
  • Knowledge of educational pedagogy, assessment and innovative teaching practices.
