The Education Network is working in partnership with a number of special schools and mainstream schools with SEN provisions across Leeds and surrounding areas to recruit compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants. This role involves supporting pupils with complex needs, including personal care, helping them to access learning in a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and specialist staff to meet pupils’ individual educational, emotional, and physical needs.
This position is ideal for experienced SEN support staff or individuals with backgrounds in care, health, or support work who are looking to move into education.
Key Responsibilities- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN
- Supporting children with personal care needs in a dignified and sensitive manner
- Assisting with mobility, feeding, and toileting where required
- Supporting learning activities tailored to individual EHCPs
- Promoting independence, confidence, and inclusion
- Working closely with teachers and SEN teams to ensure pupil wellbeing
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (ASD, PMLD, SLD, SEMH, or complex needs)
- Willingness and confidence to provide personal care
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility, reliability, and professionalism
