A secondary school in Solihull is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher with a specialism in Food Technology and/or Resistant Materials to join their department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis.

The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, with a particular focus on Hospitality & Catering qualifications. You will deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons that develop students' understanding of nutrition, food preparation, health and safety, customer service, and the hospitality industry.

The role will involve planning and delivering lessons, preparing students for assessments and coursework requirements, monitoring progress, and maintaining safe and organised practical learning environments. You will play a key role in developing students' creativity, confidence, and practical skills while helping them gain valuable knowledge of the catering and hospitality sector.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS; ECTs are welcome to apply
  • Have experience teaching Design Technology at secondary level
  • Be confident delivering Hospitality & Catering and/or Food Technology at KS3 and KS4
  • Ideally have experience teaching Resistant Materials, although this is not essential
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Be committed to supporting pupil progress and achievement
  • Have a passion for practical learning and vocational education
