The Role

Join the English department in a developmental role designed to build your classroom confidence before teacher training.

You will support pupils through 1:1 intervention, small-group academic work, lesson support, and targeted help with reading, writing, analysis, and exam preparation, while learning from experienced staff in a busy secondary setting.

The Candidate

You are articulate, organised, and able to explain ideas clearly in a way pupils understand.

You want proper secondary school experience, enjoy helping students improve in English, and see this as a genuine route into teaching rather than just another temporary role.

Requirements

  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in English, English Literature, Creative Writing, or a related subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in supporting pupil progress and wellbeing.
  • Career Goals – A desire to train as a teacher and build a long-term career in education.
