Are you an experienced Sports, Health & Fitness Lecturer, PE Teacher or Sports Coach looking for your next opportunity within Further Education? We are currently recruiting for a Sports, Health & Fitness Lecturer to join a college team delivering engaging and high-quality learning across Sports, Health & Fitness and Academy/Enrichment programmes.
You will teach and assess learners aged 14–19 and adults, delivering courses ranging from Entry Level to Level 3, including vocational qualifications and workforce development programmes.
The Role
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across Sports, Health & Fitness programmes.
- Teach BTEC Sport, CYQ Level 2/3 and/or Academy & Enrichment coaching.
- Prepare teaching materials, schemes of work and learning resources.
- Assess and monitor students' work and progress.
- Provide regular feedback and tutorial support to learners.
- Support student retention, achievement and progression.
- Maintain accurate student and course records.
- Contribute to curriculum development and programme evaluation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and the Senior Curriculum Manager.
- Attend course team meetings and contribute to the wider college community.
- Support student admissions, induction, monitoring and progression where required.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, equality, health & safety and data protection.
About You
- Experience teaching or coaching within Sports, Health & Fitness or a related subject area.
- Experience working with young people and/or adult learners.
- Experience delivering and assessing vocational or further education programmes, ideally BTEC Sport and/or CYQ qualifications.
- A relevant degree, professional qualification or significant recent industry experience.
- The ability to plan, organise and deliver effective teaching independently.
- Strong assessment, administration and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A student-centred approach to teaching and learning.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a curriculum team.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and the responsibilities involved in working with young people.
