Know Your EYFS Inside Out

Make sure you brush up on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework before your interview. Being able to discuss how you implement EYFS principles in your practice will show that you’re not just familiar with it, but that you can apply it effectively in a nursery setting.

Showcase Your Communication Skills

Since excellent communication is key in this role, prepare examples of how you've effectively communicated with children, parents, and colleagues in the past. Think about specific situations where your communication made a positive impact on a child's development or a team dynamic.

Understand Safeguarding Legislation

Familiarise yourself with the relevant safeguarding legislations. Be ready to discuss how you would ensure a safe environment for children and what steps you would take if you had concerns about a child's welfare. This shows your commitment to their safety and well-being.

Prepare Questions for Them

Interviews are a two-way street! Prepare thoughtful questions about the nursery's approach to early years education, team dynamics, and how they support their staff. This not only shows your interest in the role but also helps you determine if it's the right fit for you.
