We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our specialist SEN school supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is an exciting opportunity for a resilient and nurturing educator who is committed to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both academically and personally.
The Role
- You will deliver engaging and differentiated Science lessons across KS3 and KS4 within a supportive and therapeutic learning environment.
- Students may present with SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours and interrupted educational experiences.
- The successful candidate will be able to build positive relationships, create a structured classroom environment and inspire students to develop curiosity and confidence in Science.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated Science lessons tailored to individual learner needs.
- Teach engaging lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics at KS3 and KS4 level.
- Support students to develop scientific understanding, practical skills and confidence in learning.
- Create a safe, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
- Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to behaviour management.
- Support students to re-engage positively with education and learning.
- Monitor progress and contribute towards EHCP targets and student reviews.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and external professionals.
- Ensure safe and effective use of practical Science equipment and laboratory procedures.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4 level.
- Experience working within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision settings desirable.
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
- Patient, adaptable and resilient approach.
- Passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their full potential.
