We are seeking an experienced and ambitious English Teacher to join our department as Second in Charge. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a high-quality classroom practitioner who can support the Head of Department in driving standards, shaping curriculum, and securing excellent outcomes for students at KS3 and KS4.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver consistently high-quality English teaching across KS3 and KS4.
  • Support the leadership and strategic development of the English department alongside the Head of Department.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, and raising attainment across the subject.
  • Support and mentor colleagues, sharing best practice and contributing to departmental improvement.
  • Monitor student progress and support intervention strategies to maximise outcomes.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Hold QTS and be a qualified teacher (essential).
  • Have strong, proven experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
  • Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and a track record of raising attainment.
  • Have the confidence and ability to take on departmental leadership responsibilities.
  • Be an effective team player with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Be committed to high expectations, inclusion, and safeguarding.

This role includes a TLR 2B and is ideal for an experienced teacher ready to take the next step in leadership within a supportive and ambitious English department.
