We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEND Teacher to join a specialist school in St Albans supporting pupils aged 5–16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), alongside additional needs including ADHD and SEMH. About the Role
As a SEND Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of learners with a range of additional needs. You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, Therapists, SENCOs, and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure pupils achieve both academically and personally. The successful candidate will be teaching small classes and helping students develop confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and a love of learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs
- Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and associated learning difficulties
- Develop personalised learning strategies aligned to EHCP outcomes
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with parents, therapists, and external agencies
- Contribute to annual reviews and EHCP processes
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience working within SEN, SEND, SEMH, or specialist education settings desirable
- Strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, and social-emotional needs
- Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
