Education First is recruiting experienced and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants, SEND Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants to work across mainstream primary schools and specialist provisions throughout East London. We're looking for people who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and who can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you could be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including:

  • Autism / ASC
  • ADHD
  • SEMH - Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs
  • Speech and language needs
  • Learning difficulties
  • Behavioural needs
  • Additional and complex needs

Depending on the setting, you may provide 1:1 support, work with small groups or support the wider classroom alongside the class teacher and SENCO. You’ll play an important role in helping pupils engage with learning, develop confidence, manage challenges and make progress.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEND
  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD and/or SEMH
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • The ability to build strong relationships with pupils
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding
  • A Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare or a related subject is preferred
  • The flexibility to work across East London
  • Experience within a mainstream school, SEN school, specialist provision, alternative provision or similar setting is advantageous.

This role is ideal for experienced SEN Teaching Assistants, SEND TAs, Learning Support Assistants, Behaviour Mentors and Classroom Support Assistants who want access to a wider range of opportunities across East London. It's also suited to candidates with a relevant Level 2 qualification who want to develop their career within education and gain further experience supporting pupils with additional needs.
