As an HLTA, you will have the opportunity to lead learning activities, provide targeted intervention support and occasionally cover classes in the absence of the class teacher. Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning across the school in line with the National Curriculum.
- Deliver planned lessons and learning activities to whole classes, small groups and individual pupils.
- Provide classroom cover during teacher absence where required.
- Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil progress and attainment.
- Work closely with teaching staff to support lesson planning and resource preparation.
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
- Support pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND where appropriate.
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school community.
Requirements
- HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience working within a primary, secondary or specialist school setting.
- Strong understanding of teaching and learning strategies.
- Confidence delivering lessons and managing classroom behaviour.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
