We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming school where you can make a meaningful impact on pupils' learning and development. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with teachers to deliver high-quality education while helping pupils reach their full potential.

As an HLTA, you will have the opportunity to lead learning activities, provide targeted intervention support and occasionally cover classes in the absence of the class teacher. The successful candidate will be passionate about education, confident working independently and committed to helping create a positive and engaging learning environment where every child can thrive. Whether you are an experienced HLTA or an accomplished Teaching Assistant ready for greater responsibility, this role offers excellent opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning across the school in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Deliver planned lessons and learning activities to whole classes, small groups and individual pupils.
  • Provide classroom cover during teacher absence where required.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support pupil progress and attainment.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to support lesson planning and resource preparation.
  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress.
  • Support pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND where appropriate.
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers and colleagues.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school community.
Requirements
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working within a primary, secondary or specialist school setting.
  • Strong understanding of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Confidence delivering lessons and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
