We are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in the Harrow area supporting students in Years 7–11 with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) needs.

The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students both in and outside of the classroom. You will play a key role in helping pupils manage behaviour, regulate emotions, and engage positively with learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH and ASD needs
- Support pupils across Years 7–11
- Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Encourage engagement, confidence, and independence
- Support the class teacher with differentiated learning activities
- Help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
Requirements
- Previous experience working with SEMH and/or ASD students essential
- Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils preferred
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Team Teach or de-escalation training desirable but not essential
