Youth Mentor required for SEMH School in Hackney to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, many of whom may present with challenging behaviours.
The successful Youth Mentor will work closely with young people on a 1:1 and small group basis, building trusting relationships, encouraging engagement in learning, and supporting the development of positive behaviour and effective coping strategies.
Working in partnership with teaching staff and external professionals, the Youth Mentor will contribute to the implementation of behaviour support plans, help to de-escalate challenging situations, and promote a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
This role requires patience, empathy, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for supporting young people to overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
This specialist SEMH provision supports children and young people from Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 5, all of whom have social, emotional, and mental health needs. The setting provides both boys and girls with opportunities to access a broad and engaging curriculum, including a range of vocational subjects, within a safe, supportive, and structured environment.
