We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Carpentry Teacher to join a specialist SEN College in Croydon. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled vocational teacher or experienced carpenter to support secondary-aged students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in developing practical skills, confidence, independence, and future employability.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging theory and workshop-based lessons, supporting learners through practical assessments and helping them develop the technical knowledge, behaviours, and industry standards required within Carpentry and Joinery. A strong understanding of behaviour management is essential, as you will be working with students who may present a range of additional needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and Moderate Learning Difficulties.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver engaging practical and theory-based teaching across Carpentry and Joinery programmes.
- Plan lessons, schemes of work, and learning resources tailored to individual learner needs.
- Support learners through practical assessments, tutorials, progress reviews, and target setting.
- Create a safe, structured, and inclusive workshop environment that promotes positive learning behaviours.
- Maintain high standards of workshop organisation, health and safety, and industry practice.
