A specialist SEN school in Camden is seeking dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistants to support children and young people aged 5–16 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), alongside additional needs including ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs), and associated learning difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and making a genuine difference in their educational journey.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with Teachers, SENCOs, Therapists, and the wider support team to provide personalised learning and behaviour support. You will be supporting students with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH Needs
  • Social Communication Difficulties
  • Emotional Regulation Needs
  • Additional Learning Needs and EHCPs

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils on a 1:1 basis, within small groups, and throughout the classroom, helping to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEN, SEND, ASC, ADHD and SEMH needs
  • Deliver learning support within the classroom
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Support individual education and EHCP targets
  • Promote independence, confidence and engagement
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Work collaboratively with Teachers and multidisciplinary teams

Requirements

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Support Worker or Care Worker desirable
  • Experience supporting Autism, ADHD or SEMH needs preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Passion for Special Educational Needs and inclusive education
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one
