Education First is recruiting an experienced SEN Teacher to join a primary school in Barking & Dagenham, working within the school's Autism ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision). This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher with strong SEN experience who is passionate about supporting pupils with autism and additional needs. The successful candidate will need experience working with KS1 and/or KS2 pupils and will be expected to take on full class teacher responsibilities within the ARP.
The Role
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons appropriate to pupils' individual needs
- Take full responsibility for the class and day-to-day teaching
- Teach pupils across KS1 and KS2
- Support pupils with Autism / ASC and associated additional needs
- Differentiate the curriculum to meet individual learning needs
- Create a structured, safe and inclusive learning environment
- Develop positive relationships with pupils and promote independence
- Manage behaviour using appropriate and consistent strategies
- Monitor, assess and record pupil progress
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and support staff
- Work collaboratively with the SENCO and wider school team
What We're Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
- Essential experience working with pupils with SEN
- Experience working with KS1 and KS2 pupils
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism / ASC
- Experience working within an ARP, specialist provision or SEN setting is desirable
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- The ability to plan and deliver differentiated lessons
- A calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
