Education Development Trust is looking for a TVET and Youth Engagement Specialist to support the implementation and coordination of TVET and youth engagement activities across the regions operated by EDT in Oromia and Central Ethiopia Region. The programme will strengthen the relevance and quality of secondary education to ensure the successful transition of secondary students to tertiary education or the world of work by equipping them with relevant skills, knowledge and attitude through enhanced implementation of the competency-based curriculum.

The TVET and Youth Engagement Specialist ensures that programme activities, technical guidance, and quality standards developed at PMU level are effectively translated into coherent, high-quality delivery within the regions operated by EDT. This role is part of the regional team, reporting to the Senior Regional Technical Lead (Education Specialist), and providing technical and coordination support to regional partners, institutions, and programme teams, strengthening youth participation, skills development, and pathways to employment and livelihoods. It is expected that this role will be based in Addis Ababa.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in implementing large-scale TVET or youth and community focused programmes, preferably in Ethiopia.
  • Proven experience of developing excellent relationships with stakeholders across multiple organisations, including regional governments and training colleges.
  • Experience supporting marginalized groups, including girls, students with disabilities, refugees, and IDPs and a commitment to gender equity, social inclusion and safeguarding.
  • Experience with digital learning platforms and innovative approaches to youth engagement.
  • Financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control, and ensuring financial compliance with project requirements.
  • Fluency in English and at least one local language from the target regions.
