Delivering the Programme of Offer within Local Impact Teams
JOB PURPOSE
Local Impact Teams offer a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting children and young people who have been identified as having social, behavioural, emotional and wellbeing needs (SBEW). The successful candidate will deliver an SBEW support programme, provide advice, guidance and training in schools, and monitor and assess pupil progress to ensure the best possible outcomes.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1 Planning
1.1 Plan and prepare programmes of support for schools, children and young people.
1.2 Teach, setting targets and assessing outcomes for pupils’ educational and SBEW needs.
1.3 Record and report on progress and attainment of pupils. - 2 General
2.1 Promote progress and wellbeing of pupils in line with Local Impact Teams policy.
2.2 Provide advice and guidance to pupils, settings, and parents/carers.
2.3 Design, evaluate and report on pupils’ SBEW needs.
2.4 Communicate and consult with parents/carers.
2.5 Co‑operate with approved services.
2.6 Participate in meetings arranged for relevant purposes.
2.7 Liaise with Local Impact Teams managers. - 3 Assessment/Reporting Provide assessments and reports for individual pupils and groups, ensuring confidentiality and ethical practice.
- 4 Staff Development/Professional Development Participate in staff development, review teaching methods, and assist with preparation of teaching materials and pastoral arrangements.
- 5 Discipline/Health and Safety Maintain good order and discipline, safeguarding pupils’ health and safety on premises and elsewhere.
- 6 Public Examinations Assist with preparation, assessment, and supervision of pupils for public examinations.
- 7 Review and Development of Management Activities Review and develop activities relating to the programme of offer, training and pastoral functions of the Local Impact Team, including supervision of assistants and intervention officers.
- 8 Number of days/Hours of work Full-time teacher available for 195 days a year, with teaching days not exceeding 190 days in classroom situations.
- 9 Staff Cover Supervise and teach pupils when other teachers are absent, following statutory limits for cover.
PERSON SPECIFICATION – ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Qualifications / Professional Membership Hold a teaching qualification recognised by the Education Authority.
- Experience At least 3 years of experience teaching pupils with SBEW needs in mainstream, special educational or EOTAS setting.
- Skills / Abilities Design, implement and evaluate SBEW programmes; support pupils’ learning and wellbeing.
- Transport Provide access to an appropriate vehicle or alternative transport to meet the mobility requirements of the post.
- GTCNI Registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland before taking up post.
PERSON SPECIFICATION – ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL CRITERIA (Interview/Selection)
- Knowledge Support learning and wellbeing of pupils with SBEW; Knowledge of Graduated Response Framework.
- Experience Multi‑disciplinary capacity to support young people with SBEW.
- Skills / Abilities Procedures for SEND and child protection; support and guide other professionals.
- Values Orientation Understanding of nurture ethos practised within Local Impact Team Model and EA core values.
PERSON SPECIFICATION – DESIRABLE CRITERIA (Interview/Selection)
- Qualifications / Experience Post‑graduate degree relevant to supporting young people with SBEW or SEN; experience delivering training and pupil support programmes.
MINIMUM REQUIRES – TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987 applies. Fixed‑term post may be extended or reduced for valid reasons. A valid driving licence is required; mileage allowance will be paid for approved necessary travelling.
