Purpose of the Role
To actively participate in the daily operation of the Catering Unit under the supervision of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. The role involves teamwork to provide hygienic service, achieve customer satisfaction, and promote sales within the unit.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks, using appropriate equipment.
- Perform simple cooking tasks, including reconstituting prepared food.
- Organize and control food service points.
- Transfer and serve meals and snacks, including transported meals.
- Assist in promoting meals to pupils, parents, and the principal.
- Maintain communication with the central kitchen regarding service delivery, if applicable.
- Prepare the dining area by setting out tables, chairs, benches, and serving points as required.
- Set tables, lay out cutlery, water jugs, etc.
- Complete general kitchen and dining room duties, including washing up and clearing equipment.
- Clean the kitchen, servery, dining room, and equipment, including floors and walls.
- Record temperatures for control purposes as required.
- Secure premises as necessary.
- Perform duties delegated in connection with service provision.
- Comply with all relevant Acts, Regulations, and Codes of Practice.
- Perform duties within the working conditions typical of the role.
- Complete necessary administrative tasks.
- Carry out duties of similar or lower grades as within competence.
- Promote and adhere to the values and ethos of the school.
Note: When parts of the school are used for both food consumption and educational purposes, non-catering staff are responsible for cleaning the room.
