Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons in Business Studies for Key Stage 4 (and where required Key Stage 5).
- Assess, record and report pupils’ progress and attainment, adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Use digital media/technology to enhance instruction and support independent learning.
- Maintain high standards of classroom management, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with pupils, parents and colleagues; collaborate with school staff to improve teaching and learning.
- Participate in staff development, professional reviews and meetings related to curriculum, assessment and school-wide initiatives.
- Support the School’s values, ethos and safeguarding requirements, including attendance at assemblies and provision of pastoral care.
- Carry out any additional duties reasonably assigned by the Principal or Board, within the terms of the Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified teaching licence recognised in Northern Ireland.
- Degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Business Studies or a related subject.
- Registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland before taking up appointment.
- Minimum of two years’ experience teaching Business Studies at Key Stage 4+, including positive learning outcomes.
- Experience using a range of teaching strategies and technology to support pupils’ learning.
- Knowledge of the Northern Ireland Curriculum and assessment practices.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience teaching Business Studies at Key Stage 5 and/or assisting with sports delivery.
Other Conditions
- The role is subject to the Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987.
- Applicants must undertake an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background if the duties involve regulated activity; the Education Authority will expect applicants to cover the cost.
