Reports To: Principal
Professional Duties
- Exercise of general professional duties as required by the principal or board.
- Perform particular duties as assigned by the principal.
Planning
- Planning and preparing courses and lessons.
- Teaching according to the educational needs of pupils, including setting and marking work.
- Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils.
General
- Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual pupils and groups.
- Providing advice and guidance to pupils on educational and social matters.
- Making records of and reports on the personal and social needs of pupils.
- Communicating with parents and cooperating with external bodies as approved.
- Participating in meetings for the purposes described above.
Assessment/Reporting
- Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports, and references for pupils.
Staff Development/Professional Development
- Participating in staff development and performance review.
- Reviewing teaching methods and programmes of work.
- Participating in further training and professional development.
- Advising and cooperating with the Principal and other teachers on course preparation and development.
Discipline/Health and Safety
- Maintaining good order and discipline among pupils.
- Participating in meetings related to the curriculum and school organisation.
Public Examinations
- Participating in arrangements for preparing pupils for public examinations.
Review and Development of Management Activities/Administration
- Contributing to the selection and professional development of other teachers.
- Coordinating or managing the work of other teachers.
- Participating in the review and management of curriculum and pastoral functions.
- Managing administrative tasks related to these duties.
Other duties as agreed with the Board of Governors or the Principal.
Essential Criteria
- Hold a teaching qualification recognised in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland.
- Hold a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in PE.
- Hold a minimum Level 1 Coaching qualification in Netball.
- Be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI).
- Minimum of six months demonstrable experience of teaching PE to A level.
- Experience using effective classroom approaches for all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs.
Additional Knowledge
- Knowledge of Northern Ireland Curriculum.
- Understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection policy/practice.
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
- Knowledge of various teaching strategies to meet learning needs.
- Familiarity with Information Technology systems and digital tools.
- Knowledge of current assessment methods.

- Effective teaching and classroom management skills.
- Ability to provide a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and promote positive relationships.

Desirable Criteria
- Hold a degree (minimum 2:2) in PE.

- Experience using digital media to enhance teaching and learning.
