Reports to: Principal
Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare and deliver lessons that develop pupils’ knowledge and skills, including setting and marking work both at school and at home.
- Assess, record and report pupils’ progress, attainment and personal development, and keep detailed records and reports as required.
- Promote the general progress and well-being of pupils and provide advice and guidance on educational, social and future career matters.
- Communicate regularly with parents and carers, and co-operate with external bodies approved by the authority and the school board.
- Maintain discipline and health and safety standards for pupils both on and off the school premises.
- Support the planning and delivery of public examinations, including assessment, recording results and supervising examinations.
- Contribute to the development, review and management of curricula, teaching materials, assessment schemes and pastoral arrangements.
- Partake in school meetings and activities relating to curriculum, management, and pastoral care.
- Manage professional development, including reviewing teaching methods, participating in training programmes and collaborating with colleagues on the design of courses of study.
- Provide covering and supervision for pupils when other teachers are absent, observing enrolment and coverage rules of the authority.
- Adhere to working hours, breaks and teaching days as set by the legislation, including a minimum break of 30 minutes during the midday period.
