ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Hold a teaching qualification recognised to teach in grant‑aided schools in Northern Ireland.
- Hold a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification prepared to teach LLW and/or History to Key Stage 4.
- Be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) before taking up the post.
- Demonstrable experience of using a range of teaching strategies to meet the learning needs of pupils.
- Knowledge of Northern Ireland Curriculum, Safeguarding and Child Protection policy/practice, SEND Code of Practice, teaching strategies, IT systems and assessment methods.
- Effective teaching and classroom management skills, ability to provide a supportive, inclusive learning environment, collaborate with pupils, colleagues, parents and the wider community, work effectively as a team and motivate self and others.
- Evidence of alignment with the School’s Values/ethos.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Minimum of one year demonstrable experience teaching History and/or LLW to Key Stage 4.
- Ability to offer an additional subject.
- Experience or qualification that enables contribution to extracurricular provision such as sport, drama, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Scripture Union, agriculture or similar activities.
PROFESSIONAL DUTIES
- Planning and preparing courses, lessons and associated work.
- Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including marking and assessment.
- Assessing, recording and reporting on pupil development, progress and attainment.
- Promoting the progress and well‑being of pupils, providing advice and guidance, recording personal and social needs.
- Communicating with parents and coordinating with external bodies and the Board of Governors.
- Participating in meetings, staff development schemes and performance reviews.
- Maintaining discipline and safeguarding the health and safety of pupils during school activities.
- Participating in arrangements for public examinations, assessment and supervision.
- Supporting the selection and development of other teachers, coordinating staff work, contributing to administrative tasks.
- Meeting full‑time workdays: 195 days a year (maximum 190 teaching days), 1,265 hours a year, with scheduled breaks.
- All duties are subject to review and may be assigned as needed.
