REPORTS TO: Principal
PROFESSIONAL DUTIES:
- Plan and prepare courses and lessons.
- Teach pupils, setting and marking work.
- Assess, record and report on pupils’ development, progress and attainment.
- Promote pupils’ general progress and well-being and provide guidance on educational and social matters.
- Communicate with parents and external bodies as required.
- Participate in meetings and professional development schemes.
- Maintain discipline and safeguard pupils’ health and safety.
- Support pupils in preparing for public examinations and supervising them during such exams.
- Take part in administrative duties, including selection of other teachers and management of classroom resources.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Qualifications / Professional Membership:- Hold a recognised teaching qualification for NI schools.
- Hold a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification or teaching qualification in any curriculum subject.
- Registered with the GTCNI before taking up the post.
- Demonstrable experience teaching a range of subjects at Key Stage 2 or 3 with positive learning outcomes.
- Experience of differentiated teaching for pupils with SEN, EAL and gifted and talented learners.
- Northern Ireland Curriculum.
- Safeguarding and Child Protection policy/practice.
- SEND Code of Practice.
- Teaching strategies to meet varied learning needs.
- Information Technology systems such as digital classroom tools and tablets.
- Current assessment methods.
- Effective teaching and classroom management to inspire and challenge pupils.
- Provision of a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
- Collaboration to promote positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, parents and the wider community.
- Teamworking and motivation of self and others.
- Evidence of alignment with the school’s values and ethos.
Pre-Employment Check:
Required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background if the role involves regulated activity.
