Reports To: Principal
Professional Duties:
- Plan and prepare courses and lessons, including setting and marking work.
- Teach pupils according to their educational needs, assess, record, and report their development, progress, and attainment.
- Promote pupils’ general progress and well-being, provide advice and guidance on education and social matters, and maintain records on pupils’ personal and social needs.
- Communicate with parents and external parties, participate in meetings, and cooperate with staff for pastoral arrangements.
- Provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports, and references for pupils.
- Participate in staff development and performance review schemes, review teaching methods, and pursue professional development.
- Maintain discipline and safeguarding health and safety of pupils on school premises and authorised activities elsewhere.
- Arrange and supervise pupils for public examinations, including assessments, reports, and exam supervision.
- Contribute to the selection, professional development and management of other teachers, coordinate or manage the work of other teachers, and support curriculum, organisation and pastoral functions.
- Perform staff cover duties and collaborate with other teachers to cover absences.
Person Specification:
- Qualified for teaching in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland; registration with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) required.
- Minimum of 1 year’s demonstrable experience teaching P4/5 at Key Stage 1/2, using effective classroom strategies and digital media/technology.
- Demonstrated experience of supporting and challenging pupils of all abilities, including those with SEND.
- Knowledge of Northern Ireland Curriculum, safeguarding and child protection policy, SEND Code of Practice, and use of digital classroom tools.
- Effective classroom management, inclusive learning environment, initiative, problem-solving, flexibility, collaboration with pupils, colleagues, parents and community.
- Alignment with the school’s values/ethos.
