SECTION 1 - ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

The following criteria are essential and will be measured at shortlisting or may be explored during the interview/selection stage. Please make it clear on your application how, and to what extent you meet these criteria. Failure to do so may result in not being shortlisted.

  • Qualifications/Professional Membership: At the closing date for completed applications, applicants must hold a teaching qualification which meets the requirements for recognition to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year’s demonstrable experience of teaching at Key Stage One or Two to achieve positive learning outcomes; demonstrable experience of using a range of effective classroom strategies to provide support and challenge children and young people of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs.
  • Other: Be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) before taking up post. Pre-Employment Check.

SECTION 2 - ESSENTIAL CRITERIA (Additional)

The following are additional essential criteria which will be measured during the interview/selection stage.

  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Northern Ireland Curriculum; safeguarding and child protection policy/practice; SEND Code of Practice; a range of teaching strategies; information technology systems; current assessment methods. Method of Assessment: Interview.
  • Skills / Abilities: Effective teaching and classroom management, inclusive learning environment, initiative, problem solving, collaboration with pupils, colleagues, parents, and the community; ability to work as an effective team member. Method of Assessment: Interview.
  • Values Orientation / Identification with School Ethos: Evidence of how experience and approach reflect the school’s values/ethos (information available on the school website). Method of Assessment: Interview.

SECTION 3 - DESIRABLE CRITERIA

Some or all of the desirable criteria may be applied to determine a manageable pool of candidates, in the order listed. Please indicate on your application how you meet the desirable criteria to avoid disqualification.

  • Qualifications And Experience: Demonstrable experience of assisting with the delivery of Music in a school environment; hold a relevant qualification to assist with the delivery of Music in a school environment; demonstrable experience of assisting with the delivery of a school production; demonstrable experience of assisting with and/or coordinating Religious Education and school assemblies.

DISCLOSURE OF CRIMINAL BACKGROUND

The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 defines working directly with children or young people as ‘regulated activity’. If recommended for appointment to a post involving regulated activity, an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background is required. You will be expected to meet the cost of an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate. Details of payment will be provided at the pre-employment stage.
