Section 1 – Essential Criteria

Section 3 – Desirable Criteria

Some or all of the desirable criteria may be applied by the Selection Panel in order to determine a manageable pool of candidates. Desirable criteria will be applied in the order listed.   • Disclosure of Criminal Background
  • The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (Northern Ireland) Order 2007 defines working directly with children or young people or in specified places as ‘regulated activity’.
  • In the event that you are recommended for appointment to a post that involves ‘regulated activity’, the Education Authority will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure of Criminal Background.

Professional Duties

  • TEACHERS’ (TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT) REGULATIONS (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1987
  • Schedule 3
  • Regulation 5
  • Exercise of general professional duties: A teacher shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require, including but not limited to the following: planning, teaching, assessing, reporting, and related responsibilities as directed by the principal and employing authority.
  • Planning and preparing courses and lessons; teaching the pupils assigned; setting and marking work; assessing, recording and reporting on development and attainment.
  • Maintaining good order and discipline; providing guidance to pupils; communicating with parents; co-operating with external bodies as approved.
  • Assessment/Reporting; Staff Development/Professional Development; Discipline/Health and Safety; Public Examinations; Management and administration tasks as required.
  • Number of days/hours of work and related provisions; attendance and supervision requirements as applicable.
