The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
A teacher who is not a principal shall carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require:
- If he/she is employed as a teacher in a school under the reasonable direction of the principal of that school;
- If he/she is employed by a board on terms under which he is not assigned to any one school, under the reasonable direction of that board and of the principal of any school in which he/she may for the time being be required to work as a teacher.
A teacher employed as a teacher (other than a principal) in a school shall perform, in accordance with any directions which may be reasonably given to him/her by the principal, from time to time, such particular duties as may reasonably be assigned to him/her.
Planning
- Planning and preparing courses and lessons;
- Teaching, according to their educational needs, the pupils assigned to him/her, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the pupils in school and elsewhere;
- Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils.
General
- Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual pupils;
- Providing advice and guidance to pupils on educational and social matters and on their further education and future careers; including information about sources of more expert advice;
- Making records of and reports on the personal and social needs of pupils;
- Communicating and consulting with the parents of pupils;
- Communicating and co-operating with such persons or bodies outside the school as may be approved by the employing authority and the Board of Governors;
- Participating in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above.
Discipline/Health and Safety
- Maintaining good order and discipline among pupils in accordance with the policies of the employing authority and safeguarding their health and safety both when they are on the school premises and when they are engaged in authorised school activities elsewhere.
Public Examinations
- Participating in arrangements for preparing pupils for public examinations and in assessing pupils for the purposes of such examinations, and participating in arrangements for pupils’ presentation and supervision during such examinations.
Staff Development/Professional Development
- Participating in any scheme of staff development and performance review;
- Reviewing teaching methods and programmes of work; participating in arrangements for further training and professional development; advising and cooperating with the Principal on curriculum, teaching materials, and assessment.
Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo)
The SENCo is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN Policy. The SENCo should display a positive and enthusiastic outlook, a passion for SEN provision, commitment, respect and empathy, and flexibility to adapt to the needs of the school and pupils.
Duties Will Include (SENCo)
- Exercising a key role in assisting the Principal and Governors with the strategic development of the SEN policy/provision;
- Ensure the SEN Policy is in line with current legislation and best practice;
- Identify and meet the needs of children with SEN; coordinate, monitor, evaluate and review SEN provision;
- Support staff in understanding the needs of SEN pupils; ensure objectives are reflected in the School Development Plan;
- Assist teachers in monitoring the progress of pupils with SEN; analyse and interpret relevant data;
- Liaise with staff, parents, external agencies and other schools to coordinate support;
- Present an Annual SEN Action Plan and End of Year Report to the Board of Governors;
- Maintain the SEN Register and update records as required;
- Respond to requests for advice from other teachers; assist with and coordinate PLP/IEP reviews; complete Annual Reviews for pupils with a Statement of SEN;
- Maintain accurate SEN SIMS/BROMCOM records and data required for the Census; provide termly reports on the impact of withdrawal groups.
Learning & Teaching
The main thrust of this position will be the leadership of learning and teaching of SEN pupils throughout the school, with collaboration with other schools to gain good practice.
- Model and share good classroom practice; coordinate targeted support and interventions for students with SEN (small group or 1-1); promote effective strategies for SEN;
- Monitor and evaluate intervention strategies; support Newcomer and EAL pupils; coordinate use of Classroom Assistants; lead the preparation of the SEN Action Plan in the School Development Plan; monitor progress and provide INSET training for staff in SEN.
- ASD duties: developing social skills programmes, social stories, friendship clubs, chill-out zones, sensory integration programs; integrate UICT into SEN withdrawal sessions.
- Ensure systems are in place to baseline, monitor and assess SEN provision; support metacognitive approaches where appropriate.
The SENCO will lead and manage Teachers and Teaching Assistants in this area, including performance management and professional development.
Their Duties In This Regard Will Include:
- Provide support and advice for staff enabling differentiation for all children;
- Encourage staff to remain enthusiastic and focused on their roles.
