Reports To: Principal

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare curriculum, courses and lessons.
  • Teach pupils, assess and report on their progress and attainment.
  • Promote general progress and well-being of pupils and provide guidance on educational and career options.
  • Maintain discipline, health and safety, and ensure safe pastoral care.
  • Communicate with parents, colleagues and external bodies.
  • Participate in staff development, training and professional reviews.
  • Perform administrative duties including selection and induction of teachers, management of staff and resources.
  • Support pupils for public examinations and coordinate examination arrangements.
  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably required by the principal or board.

Essential Criteria – Shortlisting:

  • Qualifications: Valid teaching qualification recognised for grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland; registered with GTCNI prior to start.
  • Teaching Experience: Minimum 2 years teaching Key Stage 2 with evidence of positive learning outcomes.
  • Classroom Skills: Demonstrable use of effective strategies for pupils of all abilities, including those with Special Educational Needs.
  • Digital Skills: Experience of using digital media/technology to enhance teaching and learning.

  • Knowledge: Northern Ireland Curriculum, safeguarding, SEND Code of Practice, and assessment methods.
