ICT Coordinator responsibilities include leading the strategic development of ICT teaching and digital learning across the school, supporting staff to integrate technology into lessons, providing training on educational software and hardware, overseeing the ICT curriculum, monitoring pupil attainment in computing, maintaining school technology, liaising with external technical support, promoting safe use of technology, adopting new digital tools, and contributing to an ICT development plan aligned with school improvement priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development of ICT teaching and digital learning across the school.
  • Support staff in integrating technology into lessons to enhance teaching and pupil engagement.
  • Provide training and guidance on the use of educational software, hardware, and online learning platforms.
  • Oversee the school’s ICT curriculum, ensuring progression, relevance, and alignment with national expectations.
  • Monitor pupil attainment and progress in computing, identifying gaps and supporting targeted interventions.
  • Manage and maintain school technology, including devices, networks, interactive boards, and classroom equipment.
  • Liaise with external technical support services to ensure systems are secure, up-to-date, and functioning effectively.
  • Promote safe and responsible use of technology, leading e-safety initiatives for pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Lead the adoption of new digital tools and innovations that enhance learning and streamline school processes.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to create and implement an ICT development plan aligned with school improvement priorities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold a teaching qualification which meets the requirements for recognition to teach in grant-aided schools in Northern Ireland.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ demonstrable experience of teaching at Key Stage 2 to achieve positive learning outcomes (by 1 September 2026).
  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience coordinating a curricular area across the whole school (by 1 September 2026).
  • Demonstrable experience of monitoring pupil progress, performance, target setting and intervention.
  • Be registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI) before taking up post.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the Northern Ireland Curriculum and safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and a range of teaching strategies to meet pupil needs.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology systems, digital classroom tools, and mobile technologies.
  • Effective teaching and classroom management skills; ability to provide a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to use initiative, solve problems, and work collaboratively with staff, pupils, parents, and the community.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and motivate self and others.

Desirable Criteria

  • Additional ICT curricular leadership experience and after-school club involvement.
  • Hold a relevant qualification to assist with football in a school environment.
