The Education Authority wish to appoint an Administrative Officer to join their Legal Services Department in Northern Ireland.

Location: EA Dundonald / EA Omagh Office

Contract Type: Permanent

Status: Full-Time

Working Pattern: 36 hours per week - Monday - Friday. Work may occasionally be required outside of standard working hours.

Grade/Scale: Administrative Officer | NJC pts 29 - 32 | £39,862 - £42,839 per annum

Additional Information: Post to be based in either Dundonald or Omagh office. Base location to be agreed upon appointment.

Job Purpose: Responsible for the administrative functions in relation to self-insurance, debt recovery and legal and commercial insurance matters related to non-property.

Essential Criteria:

  • HNC (UK Qualification Level 4) or an equivalent or higher qualification in a Business, Administration or Finance related subject and a minimum of 3 years experience of working within a legal and/or insurance service providing relevant advice and guidance to managers and/or school leaders, staff and/or customers and a minimum of 1 years direct line management experience of a team or service.
  • OR A minimum of 5 years experience working within a legal and/or insurance service providing relevant advice and guidance to managers and/or school leaders, staff and/or customers and a minimum of 1 years direct line management experience of a team or service.
  • Familiarity with civil law processes and/or understanding of insurance claims lifecycle, from investigation to settlement.
  • Capability to interpret legal documents (contracts, court orders, etc.) and/or insurance policies and related documents.
  • Understanding of data protection and confidentiality requirements.
  • Understanding of risk management including risk registers, mitigation strategies, and internal controls.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal working hours as and when required.

The successful candidate will be required:

  • To have access to a suitable vehicle (appropriately maintained and insured for Education Authority business) that will enable them to carry out the mobility requirements of the post in an efficient and effective manner and thus meet this essential criterion; OR
  • Be able to provide sufficient information on the application form that will satisfy the employer that he/she has access to an appropriate alternative form of transport that will enable them to carry out the mobility requirements of the post in an efficient and effective manner and thus meet this essential criterion.
