- We're recruiting a
Learning Mentor to join a welcoming Alternative Provision in Stroud, supporting Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students who benefit from additional guidance both in and out of the classroom.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.
- What you'll be doing
- Providing one-to-one and small group mentoring to students.
- Supporting students to engage positively with learning and develop confidence, resilience and independence.
- Building positive relationships and acting as a trusted role model.
- Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and effective coping strategies.
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals to support individual learning and behaviour plans.
- Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Supporting educational visits and off-site activities where required.
What we're looking for
- At least 30 days' experience working with children or young people.
- Experience supporting students with additional needs, SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is desirable.
- A calm, compassionate and positive approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to motivate, encourage and inspire young people.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential, as travel between sites and supporting off-site activities may be required.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and succeed.
