At EFWS (Education and Family Wellbeing Service) we are looking for compassionate and dedicated Teachers, Mentors, Tutors and SEN specialists in the Kent and Medway Area. Our goal is to support children and young people who have become disengaged from mainstream education, helping them rediscover their love for learning and to build a brighter future. We are looking for individuals who can look past behaviour to see the child, understanding that education is not just about grades, it is about rebuilding confidence, agency and self-worth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality, personalised support (1:1 or in small groups) to students with diverse learning needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) and other associated complex needs.
  • Implement the EFWS curriculum including GCSE, Functional Skills and ASDAN whilst adapting lessons to engage reluctant learners.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and supportive environment that encourages independent learning habits.
  • Track student progress using assessment techniques and tools and provide feedback that builds self-esteem.
  • Work collaboratively within a co-production model, valuing the input of families, stakeholders and agencies and the young people themselves.

What we are looking for

  • Teachers: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is highly desirable, if you are studying towards QTS we would like to hear from you too.
  • Mentors/Tutors: Relevant experience in youth work, coaching or subject specific tutoring is required.
  • SEN and SEMH experience: A strong understanding of a range of Special Educational Needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and the ability to tailor your approach to students who have faced barriers to learning.
  • Curriculum knowledge: Familiarity with delivery of curriculums, planning and engaging disengaged learners.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable using technology and online platforms to enhance the learning process and maintain engagement.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, organisation and a genuine commitment to patience and empathy.

Why join EFWS?

Help us change the narrative for the next generation. Our systemic approach recognises and works within a strength based, co-production model to support, empower and transform the negative cycles and patterns that many families, children and young people with complex needs experience, as they navigate the traditional education system. We acknowledge and recognise within our model the impact that domestic abuse, poverty, adverse childhood experiences, racism and trauma can have upon the development, growth and happiness of families. Being exposed to such pressures and experiences can lead to children and young people being hypervigilant to perceived threat and triggered into prolonged physiological dysregulation. If you are ready to help a young person realise their unique potential, we want to hear from you.
