- Supportive hospital-school / specialist environment for students with social, emotional and mental health needs
- Competitive salary
- Excellent opportunities for professional and personal growth
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Maths Teacher to join a specialist hospital-based school. This provision supports children and young people (ages 4–19) who are in hospital or receiving treatment for mental health needs, many of whom have experienced disruption to education, social, emotional or behavioural difficulties. The school offers a therapeutic, inclusive and stabilising learning environment where small group or one-to-one teaching supports individual learning plans and helps pupils maintain or catch up with their academic progress during treatment.
As the Maths Teacher, you will plan and deliver individualised or small-group Maths lessons tailored to pupils’ needs and circumstances. You will provide a reassuring, structured learning environment with flexibility to respond to students’ mental health needs, helping them build confidence, resilience, and academic skills. You will collaborate closely with hospital staff, therapists and the wider teaching team to support each pupil’s social, emotional and educational development, and help them maintain continuity of education or prepare for reintegration into mainstream schooling when ready.
To be successful, you should hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), have strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and ideally have experience supporting young people with social, emotional or mental health (SEMH) needs. Flexibility, empathy, strong behaviour management and the ability to adapt teaching to individual emotional, social and learning needs are essential. A genuine commitment to supporting students through challenging times and helping them succeed academically and personally is key.
If you are ready to make a meaningful difference in SEN and mental-health education, apply today and take the next step in your teaching career.
