Our client is a quality-focused training provider delivering apprenticeships and commercial training across a range of professional sectors, including continuous improvement, project management, business, marketing, media and creative provision. As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for engaging with new and existing employers to identify opportunities for apprenticeship recruitment, commercial training and staff upskilling. This is a consultative, relationship-led role where you will take the time to understand employer needs and identify suitable training solutions. Our client is particularly keen to speak with candidates who can help develop opportunities across the creative, media, audio-visual and wider business sectors. You will work closely with internal teams, including customer success, tutors, administration and marketing, to ensure employers and learners receive a smooth and professional experience from initial enquiry through to enrolment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Engaging with new employers through outbound calls, direct communication, networking and relationship building
  • Developing employer partnerships across creative, media, audio-visual, business and professional sectors
  • Identifying opportunities for apprenticeships, commercial training, apprenticeship vacancies and staff upskilling
  • Arranging organisational and training needs analysis meetings with employers
  • Working towards monthly sales and enrolment targets
  • Supporting employers with apprenticeship vacancy promotion
  • Liaising with marketing colleagues to advertise opportunities across relevant channels
  • Working with administration colleagues to support timely learner enrolment
  • Collaborating with tutors to ensure employers and learners understand delivery expectations and commitments
  • Attending events to increase awareness and generate new employer relationships
  • Bringing ideas, market insight and a proactive approach to business development activity

About You

Our client is looking for a confident communicator with experience in consultative sales, employer engagement, business development or training-related sales. You may already have experience within apprenticeships, education, employability or funded training, or you may come from a wider B2B sales background with a genuine interest in the education and skills sector. Experience or contacts within the creative, media, music, audio-visual, production or recording studio sectors would be highly advantageous.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in business development, employer engagement, recruitment, training sales or consultative B2B sales
  • The ability to build strong relationships with employers and decision-makers
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to generating new opportunities
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and online systems
  • An understanding of apprenticeships, levy funding or government-funded training would be beneficial
  • GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
