This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Refrigeration and Air Conditioning professional who is looking to move into teaching and assessment, or an existing Tutor/Assessor who wants to join a high-quality, supportive and well-equipped training environment.

You will be joining an organisation that plays an important role in developing skills across the energy and building services sectors, supporting learners and experienced engineers to gain the qualifications, confidence and technical knowledge they need to work safely, legally and effectively in industry. This is a particularly exciting time to join the sector, with refrigerant legislation, environmental responsibility and the transition to new refrigerant types continuing to shape the future of RAC.

In this role, your knowledge will help learners understand not just how to achieve their qualification, but why safe, compliant and environmentally responsible practice matters. As an F-Gas Teacher and Assessor, you will deliver high-quality theoretical and practical training for learners completing City & Guilds F-Gas and ODS Regulations qualifications. You will support learners from a range of professional backgrounds, helping them understand legal requirements, environmental impact, safe refrigerant handling and practical RAC processes.

The role will involve classroom teaching, workshop demonstrations, practical assessment and learner feedback, all within a professional training centre environment. You will also act as a key technical authority within the training team, ensuring delivery remains current, compliant and aligned with industry developments, including the shift towards A2L and A3 refrigerants.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging, high-quality F-Gas training and assessment across theory and practical elements. The role will include:

  • Delivering classroom-based teaching on UK and EU F-Gas regulations, thermodynamics and environmental impact
  • Teaching key principles including refrigerant handling, legal responsibilities and safe working practices
  • Carrying out practical workshop demonstrations in refrigerant recovery, pressure testing, leak detection and brazing
  • Supporting learners to understand complex technical and legislative content in a clear, accessible way
  • Acting as the primary assessor for practical F-Gas examinations
  • Assessing candidates against Category 1-4 F-Gas certification requirements
  • Marking theory examinations and providing constructive, timely feedback
  • Maintaining accurate learner progress and assessment records
  • Supporting Internal Quality Assurance processes and standardisation activity
  • Ensuring workshop equipment is safe, calibrated and ready for training delivery
  • Managing refrigerants, OFN and associated materials in line with legal and environmental requirements
  • Promoting excellent health and safety practice across the workshop environment

About You: This role would suit someone with strong hands-on experience in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning industry who enjoys sharing knowledge and helping others develop. You may already have experience in teaching, training or assessing, or you may be an experienced RAC engineer looking for a rewarding new direction. What matters most is that you have strong technical knowledge, a professional approach and the ability to communicate clearly with learners at different levels.

You will need:

  • Level 2 Award in F-Gas and ODS Regulations, Category 1
  • At least 5 years' real-world experience in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning industry
  • Strong understanding of the vapour compression cycle and pressure enthalpy charts
  • The ability to explain technical and legislative information clearly
  • A meticulous approach to compliance, paperwork and audit trails
  • Good IT skills, including digital learning platforms, e-portfolios or VLE systems
  • A confident, professional and supportive approach to learners

You will also need at least one relevant RAC qualification, such as:

  • City & Guilds NVQ in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
  • City & Guilds Diploma in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps
  • Relevant HND or degree with practical industry experience
  • City & Guilds Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
  • Equivalent recognised RAC qualification

Desirable:

  • Recognised teaching qualification such as AET, PTLLS, CET, CTLLS or PGCE
  • Assessor qualification such as TAQA, A1 or CAVA
  • Registration with a relevant professional body
  • Experience delivering training, mentoring apprentices or supporting colleagues in a technical environment
  • Knowledge of A2L, A3 and emerging refrigerant trends

Why Apply? This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a role where your industry experience can have a lasting impact. You will be helping learners and engineers gain essential qualifications, improve their technical understanding and work more safely and responsibly within a highly regulated industry. You will also be part of a supportive training environment that values quality, professionalism and continuous development.
