We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Children’s Centre based within a primary school in Haringey for an Early Learning & Family Practitioner to join their Early Help and Prevention team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a school-based children’s centre, supporting families with young children through high-quality early years provision, targeted interventions, and outreach support. You will play a key role in delivering stay-and-play sessions, supporting early development, and helping families access vital services within the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver and evaluate early learning sessions (including stay & play, speech and language, and parenting support) in line with the EYFS framework and centre priorities
- Support children and families to access services within the children’s centre and wider early help network
- Promote uptake of the free entitlement for 2, 3 and 4-year-olds
- Observe, assess and track children’s development and progress within group settings
- Support parents to understand child development, play and early learning
- Work alongside health professionals, including health visitors, to support delivery of the Healthy Child Programme
- Identify families needing additional support and ensure appropriate referrals and signposting
- Contribute to safeguarding processes and ensure early identification of additional needs, including SEND
- Support inclusive practice across all sessions and outreach activity
- Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends when required
About You
Essential Requirements:
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of the EYFS and child development (0–5 years)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering early years services
- Experience working with vulnerable families and diverse communities
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging early learning sessions
- Strong communication skills with children, parents/carers and professionals
- Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Confident using observation and assessment to support outcomes
- IT literate, organised, and able to manage competing priorities
- Positive, proactive and solution-focused approach
Desirable:
- Experience working in a children’s centre or school-based early years setting
- Experience of multi-agency working
- Understanding of social exclusion and its impact on families
- Ability to speak a community language
