Are you an experienced carpenter or joiner interested in passing your knowledge on to the next generation?
Educate Group is recruiting a Carpentry and Joinery Tutor / Assessor on behalf of an established education and training provider in Cheshire East.
This is a practical role based within an educational setting, with some travel to apprentices’ workplaces. You will train, coach and assess apprentices, helping them develop the practical skills, knowledge and professional behaviours needed to succeed within the construction industry.
You do not need to be a qualified teacher to apply. Applications are welcomed fromexperienced carpenters and joiners, with funded teaching and assessor training available while in post.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering practical Carpentry and Joinery training
- Coaching, mentoring and assessing apprentices
- Supporting practical activities that develop occupational competence
- Visiting apprentices in the workplace to review their progress and gather evidence
- Completing inductions, initial assessments and skills reviews
- Creating action plans and conducting formal progress reviews
- Maintaining accurate learner records and electronic portfolios
- Monitoring apprenticeship progress and off-the-job training
- Working closely with employers to support apprentice development
- Embedding functional skills, safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and health and safety into delivery
- Contributing to team meetings, quality assurance and standardisation activities
- Supporting open days and employer-engagement events when required
About you
We would like to hear from candidates who:
- Hold a relevant vocational qualification in Carpentry and Joinery or Construction
- Have substantial practical experience within the Carpentry and Joinery industry
- Have experience coaching, mentoring, supervising or training others
- Hold a teaching or assessor qualification, or are willing to work towards one
- Can motivate apprentices and build positive working relationships
- Have strong communication and organisational skills
- Are comfortable using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
- Can manage a busy caseload and prioritise their workload
- Are committed to safeguarding, equality and learner achievement
