This is an on-site position and is NOT suitable for applicants who live elsewhere in the UK and are unable to commute to St Austell for every scheduled shift.
Educare Recruitment is looking for caring, reliable and resilient Children’s Support Workers to join a residential children’s service in the St Austell area of Cornwall.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who genuinely wants to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people, providing consistent support within a safe, nurturing and positive home environment.
The Role
As a Children’s Support Worker, you will work alongside an established team supporting children and young people with their day-to-day lives.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing emotional and practical support
- Building positive and appropriate relationships with young people
- Supporting daily routines and encouraging independence
- Helping young people develop confidence and life skills
- Supporting activities, appointments and community access
- Responding calmly and appropriately to challenging situations
- Maintaining accurate records and completing handovers
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures
- Helping maintain a safe, positive and homely environment
Who We’re Looking For
We would particularly like to hear from candidates with previous experience in:
Children’s Residential Care | Support Work | SEND | Learning Disabilities | Mental Health | Challenging Behaviour | Complex Needs
You should be patient, resilient, reliable and able to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
A full UK driving licence is highly desirable.
You must also be flexible enough to work a rota which may include day shifts, evenings, weekends, waking nights and sleep-ins.
LOCATION REQUIREMENT
This vacancy is specifically based in St Austell, Cornwall.

St Austell | Carlyon Bay | Charlestown | Par | St Blazey | Bugle | Roche | Mevagissey | Lostwithiel | Fowey and other nearby areas
Applicants from slightly further afield will be considered where they can genuinely and reliably commute to St Austell for all required shifts.
Please do not apply if you currently live elsewhere in the UK and do not already have realistic arrangements to live or work in the St Austell area.
