About the apprenticeship

  • Use training/knowledge of working with babies and children to support their needs.
  • Support team members to have knowledge and skills required to work effectively with children.
  • Follow nursery safeguarding procedures to ensure safety of children.
  • Formulate and operate a programme of activities.
  • Keep records of children’s development and learning journeys, share with parents, carers and key adults in the child’s life.
  • Support team members with early identification and intervention for children.
  • Undertake appropriate supervision meetings for your team.
  • Feed into appraisals, target settings and nursery operations.
  • Attend nursery management meetings and feed back information to teams.
  • Support staff to engage in team working.
  • Support team members to seek training/support.
  • Support new team members through inductions.
  • Ensure record keeping is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Ensure room checks and outdoor checks meet nursery procedures.
  • Liaise with the local authority and other professionals associated with the nursery.
  • Be involved in out of working hours activities.
  • Undertake domestic jobs within the nursery.
  • Participate in training programmes with students.
  • Work alongside the Manager and staff to ensure that the nursery philosophy is fulfilled.
  • Read, understand & adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained.
  • Ensure someone known & agreed by the nursery and parent collects each child.

Purpose of Post:

  • To ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children in their care.
  • To ensure all children are safeguarded and their welfare and safety is promoted.
  • To have specific training/knowledge of working with the age group of the room in order to support their individual needs.
  • To give support to other team members within their immediate room and the wider nursery.
  • To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, learn and develop.

Responsible to: Nursery Director, Nursery Manager and Assistant Manager

Requirements

  • Professional attitude.
  • Highly organised.
  • Good timekeeping.
  • Friendly persona to be able to get along with team members and children in the nursery.
  • Team player.
  • Creative when conducting activities.
  • Welsh speaking (desirable).

Qualifications: Level 2 in Childcare or equivalent.
