EdStaff are seeking a dedicated and resilient HLTA for a role based within an alternative provision setting in Wigan. The provision supports pupils who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD and other additional learning needs.
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both academically and emotionally. Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams, you will deliver interventions, lead learning activities, provide classroom cover when required and help create a positive learning environment where every student can succeed.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups.
- Support the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities.
- Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and achieving their educational goals.
- Implement behaviour support strategies and promote positive engagement.
- Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents/carers and external professionals.
- Assist with general school duties as required.
- Adhere to school policies and procedures, including safeguarding.
Essential requirements:
- Right to work in the UK.
- Relevant HLTA qualification (Level 4) qualification or experience within the role previously.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills.
- Ability to engage students with a range of needs.
- Confident classroom presence.
- A patient, resilient and adaptable approach.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
- Provide reference details to cover the last 2 years.
