EdStaff are seeking an organised and reliable Science Technician to join a fast-paced science department at a secondary school in the Wigan / Leigh area from September. As a Science Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the department by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and ensuring practical lessons run smoothly and safely. You will work closely with teaching staff to support learning across the science curriculum. The role is full-time and due to continue until December 2026, with potential to be extended further.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare, set up and clear away equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging and safe practical experiments in line with the curriculum.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is maintained, cleaned, stored correctly and available for use when required.
  • Conduct routine checks, maintenance and stock control of laboratory resources and equipment.
  • Order and monitor science consumables and supplies, ensuring departments remain well stocked.
